Music Journey

My Music Journey

Music has been a part of my DNA for my whole life. I remember singing in Primary school as my first musical experience, but at that same time, they allowed all the students in the higher year groups to play the violin. It was simple, but extremely effective. I started learning the Violin at 9 years old, quickly followed by starting Piano lessons after gaining a vivid interest in that instrument.

Throughout my school journey, I continued to develop my musical skills, and immerse myself in that world as much as I could. I became part of the lead Violin section at my school orchestra, joined the boys choir from the very first opportunity, which evolved into the joint choir and Senior Choir later down the line. However, for me, the my absolute favourite was the piano. This way, I could combine it with singing and accompany my own performances, or use it as a way to unwind, always intrigued at learning new harmonic progressions and methods of expression.

These three elements: Violin, Piano, and Singing, have become a constant feature in everyday life. I have achieved Grade 8 in all three disciplines, including achieving high-mark distinctions in Singing and Piano. I fine tune all my musical work and performances to the last minute detail, ensuring that every performance is as close to my satisfaction as possible.

I am a Tenor voice for St Johns Lemsford Church’s choir, and have been involved with the choir for a long time. Over time, I’ve been introduced to more of a leadership role, becoming the Assistant Musical Director for the choir, overseeing rehearsals and providing an atmosphere that allows creativity to flourish. At church, I was also introduced to another fragment of the music world: the Organ. I played my first service in 2017, and since then have primarily self-taught myself to become more versatile and provide consistently strong accompaniment for services.

I’ve used my keyboard skills for more than pure leisure and organist endeavours; I have played in show bands as a Keyboard 2 or similar, for productions such as Legally Blonde and Billy Elliot. Furthermore, I became the Chapel Organist at Queenswood School, which developed into a permanent role at the school of a ‘Musician in Residence’. Ironic, really, because I never lived on site…

Another avenue opened up as a result, allowing me to teach and express my passion for music to younger audiences, and create a really strong and cohesive music community within the school. Since March 2024, the journey has been a blast, but in July 2025, I departed my post as Musician in Residence to take the next step in my journey. I left the school with many marvellous memories, and hope that music continues to grow in popularity.

As much as the canvas mostly displays a picture of commentary and Esports, music is the beautiful brushstroke that accompanies it, and it will always be a part of me.
