About Karl Puranik

About Me

Hi, I’m Karl Puranik, and I love two things more than anything: music and motorsport. From the first time I saw Fernando Alonso win his world championships in 2005 and 2006, I was hooked on Formula 1. My first experience of commentating was at the age of 10, when I did a commentary on a family friend’s car racing stop-go video. When I listen back to that, I can’t believe the squeaky kid’s voice is mine, but it ignited a spark that made me chase that thrill ever since. I began commentating in 2023, and have never looked back. Today, I commentate on Esports F1 races, including as part of the EA Creator Series Broadcast Team, and provide live radio commentary for St Albans City FC on Mix 92.6.

Music has been just as central to my life. I have a first-class degree in Music Production, perfect pitch, and Grade 8 in piano, violin, and singing. I’m also a self-taught organist, and extra money through that to this day, via all types of church services. My repertoire ranges from classical pieces to pop favourites. Coldplay are my absolute favourite, and I can perform all their songs both on piano and vocally. I have also performed in a number of local theatre shows, most recently playing the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz at Potters Bar Wyllotts Theatre and as Kasper, one of the Kings in the operetta ‘Amahl and the Night Visitors’.

I’ve practiced martial arts since childhood, and quickly fell in love with the discipline of Qi Kwan Do. I have constantly strived to push myself to the limit and grow my teaching capabilities. Martial arts has given me discipline, focus and confidence and it’s a passion I love sharing with others.

These passions music, motorsport, and martial arts might seem different, but they all fuel the same drive: connecting with people, honing my skills and bringing energy and insight to everything I do. I’m really excited to now have a role with Williams F1 as a STEM technician, combining my love of learning, teaching and racing to inspire the next generation. If you’d have told me that I would be working for a Formula 1 team, teaching younger people about careers in motorsport, I would have labelled you as insane… but it’s not. I am part of that world, and it’s a dream come true.

Whether I’m performing, commentating, or teaching, I bring curiosity, discipline and enthusiasm to every project, and I dedicate myself wholly to any task set before me. I love sharing it with anyone who’ll listen.
